About the brand
Mag Made This started with a love for art, creativity, and community. I grew up surrounded by the women in my family—my grandmother, mom, and aunts—who were always needlepointing, knitting, or sewing together at the table. They could be deep in conversation about the world news, politics, or what to make for dinner without ever skipping a beat in what they were making. It was to the point where it almost felt like you. needed to have a craft in your hands in order to speak at the metaphorical and literal table (though all were always welcome!). From the beginning, I've always been drawn to the joy of making things, especially alongside others and that still sticks with me today.
During the pandemic, I picked up needlepoint again as a way to calm my anxious brain. Then in 2021, my sisters gifted me a basket weaving class in Cambridge—and I was hooked. There’s something so satisfying about turning raw materials into something functional and beautiful. I kept going, kept weaving, and eventually started selling pieces after some gentle nudging from friends and family.
The whole process feels especially meaningful to me because of a basket my dad gave my mom on their wedding day—one she still treasures. I love the idea of creating that kind of heirloom for others.
The name itself came about casually—a friend asked about a woven ice bucket and my sister said, “Maggie made this!” It stuck (and got shortened to Mag Made This), and now here we are.
Today, I make handwoven baskets, barware, and home décor that are meant to be used and loved every day—not just saved for special occasions. In a world that moves fast, I find so much beauty in slow, intentional craftsmanship. I believe art doesn’t have to just be in a frame—it can be held, used, and shared with others.
Thanks for being here!
