About the brand

Mag Made This started because I’ve always loved art, creativity, and making things. Growing up, I was surrounded by my grandmother, aunts, and mom, all of whom were super crafty—they were always needlepointing, knitting, or sewing while chatting and laughing around the table.

I loved being part of that and seeing how they created these beautiful things with their hands. It left such an impression on me, and I think that’s where my love for handmade work and the joy of doing it together really came from. Fast forward to the pandemic—I was super anxious (honestly, who wasn’t?) and ended up picking up needlepoint again. I hadn’t done it since I was a teenager, but it gave me something to focus on, and I loved seeing the finished product.

Then in 2021, my sisters gifted me a class at a basket weaving studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts and I was instantly hooked. There’s just something about taking raw materials and turning them into something functional and beautiful. After that, I kept going back to classes, practicing, and learning new techniques. My family and friends were so encouraging, even telling me I should start selling them—so I did!

The whole process felt really meaningful, especially because my dad had given my mom a beautiful, personalized basket as a wedding gift, and I’ve always admired how special it is. I love the idea of creating pieces like that for others, something they can cherish and pass down for generations.

The name “Mag Made This” actually came about pretty casually. A friend was over at my house, saw one of my woven ice buckets, and asked who made it. My sister just answered, “Maggie made this!” and it stuck. I had to shorten it to “Mag Made This” because the original name was already taken, but it ended up being a perfect fit.

Now, I make handwoven baskets, barware, and home décor with the hope that they’ll bring people the same kind of peace and happiness I feel when I’m by the ocean. I believe in using the things you love every day—not saving them for some “special occasion.”

In a society that prioritizes speed and convenience, I find there is something beautiful about embracing a slower pace, knowing that what is in front of you can’t be rushed. For me, art doesn’t have to hang on a wall; it can be something you use, hold, or share with others. Mag Made This is all about blending creativity and function while creating pieces that bring joy for the years to come. Thanks for stopping by!
